Rock Bridge boys soccer routed Glendale on Thursday at the Rock Bridge Invitational, claiming an 9-0 victory over the Falcons.

Jayton Johnson scored three goals, Nate Durdle and Jeremiah Johnson both scored two goals, and Quintin Liddle and Lucas Godin scored one each on penalty kicks.

The Bruins (8-5) will look to improve their record Friday night on day two of the Rock Bridge Invitational. They will play De Smet Jesuit at 8 p.m.

Cougars volleyball drops five-setter

Columbia College volleyball fought a tough match, but ultimately fell to American Midwest Conference foe and fifth-ranked Missouri Baptist. The loss is the Cougars’ second of the season.

Missouri Baptist struck first with a 25-20 set win before the Cougars responded with an assertive 25-13 set win. Both teams exchanged points in the third set before Missouri Baptist finally prevailed 27-25.

Columbia College refused to go away in the fourth set and won 25-21. They led 11-4 at one point early on.

In the deciding set, neither team saw a lead of more than one point until Missouri Baptist closed on a 6-0 run to win the set 15-9 and match 3-2.

Rock Bridge volleyball defeats Hannibal

Rock Bridge volleyball secured a 2-1 victory over Hannibal on Thursday night at home, bringing their record to 8-12-2.

The Bruins started off strong, winning a close first set 25-18. Hannibal countered, winning the second set 25-14, but Rock Bridge was able to close it out, taking the third set 25-17.

Rock Bridge will play again Wednesday at Battle.

Tolton boys soccer defeats Jefferson City

The Trailblazers (5-7-1) took down Jefferson City on the road Thursday night, beating the Jays 2-0.

The goals came from Nathan Schwartze and Holden Petri.

Tolton will play again Tuesday against St. Francis Borgia at home.

Battle softball tops Kirksville

Battle softball defeated Kirksville 2-0 Thursday at home, bringing the Spartans’ record to 12-11.

The Spartans’ next game is Monday at Eldon.

Tolton vs. Hermann softball game canceled

Tolton’s softball game against Hermann was canceled late Thursday.

The Trailblazers (15-5) have their senior night at 5:15 p.m. Monday, when they will play Helias.
