Museum hosting Free First Saturday

| July 3, 2020 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — With so many holiday traditions altered this year thanks to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Bonner County History Museum invites you to spend a part of your Fourth of July at a place that has been a consistent cornerstone of the community for almost 50 years: the museum.

This year, Independence Day falls on the museum’s Free First Saturday. The museum and caboose are open 10 a.m.–2 p.m., and admission is free for all!

Whether you’d like to get out of the sun after the parade or are looking for an activity to do with visiting family, the museum offers exhibits about everything from logging and steamboats to David Thompson and the Kalispel and Kootenai tribes. Our special exhibit “The Women Who Shaped Bonner County” features over 20 women who were influential in Bonner County’s development. And the caboose is a favorite with kids and train lovers of all ages.

As a precaution, the museum does require guests to wear masks, and may limit the number of visitors at any given time if needed. Founded in 1972, the Bonner County History Museum has been collecting and preserving the Bonner County region’s significant stories for over 40 years.

The museum is located in view of Lake Pend Oreille in beautiful Lakeview Park at 611 S. Ella Ave.
