(Courtesy photo) It was Dig Pink Night at Bonners Ferry High School recently, as the school hosted a cancer awareness fundraiser during the Cats’ win over the Badgers. Front row: Ellie Kiebert, Brooke Stevens, Aleehia Valliere and Abbie Anderson. Derr, who is currently battling cancer and is coming off a tough week, was one of the people honored on the special night. “It was very overwhelming and appreciated. I don’t talk a lot about my cancer journey but it seems this year I realized how many people it effects since it flared its ugly head during this volleyball season. Not only my family, but my volleyball family,” said Derr. “I love this group of girls and parents and greatly appreciate all of their support. I’m blessed to have a great coaching staff that have stepped in and made my coaching easier. Both of my daughters, Jennifer Derr and Staci Bailey, have also stepped in and given countless hours to help Michelle with the team.”
