This Friday and Saturday, Madison will be hosting a wrestling tournament that will showcase many of the top wrestling programs from Idaho and Wyoming.

“We will have all the area schools with Sugar-Salem, South Fremont, North Fremont, Teton and Rigby attending,” said Jake Lords, Madison’s head coach. “We will also have Star Valley, Wyoming, Snake River, and Blackfoot who along with Sugar-Salem will be the favorites to win the team title. There will be some fantastic wrestling for our fans to watch.”

Last week Madison traveled to Boise where they lost to Lakeland and Coeur d Alene in two duals on Thursday before wrestling at the Rollie Lane tournament. Only two Madison wrestlers, Josh Benson and Tre Clark made it into the second day of the main tournament, both losing their first matches.

Of those wrestlers put out in the first day were able to enter the “Second chance” meet on Saturday. Jaden Smith won that tournament with Noah Ingram taking second in the 120 weight class.

“We are still showing our inexperience but we are right on the cuff of being a good team,” said Lords. “This weekend will really show us what we need to do to prepare the district and state matches in the next month.”
