Hickman sets distance medley relay school record

Hickman High School's distance medley relay team broke the school track and field record Saturday at the 60th Annual Capital City Relays in Jefferson City, running 10 minutes, 29.79 seconds to better the previous record by 0.5 seconds. The relay team featured Cale Littrell (800 meters in 2:02.43), Auden Shelby (400 meters in 51.8), Charlie Werth (1200 meters in 3:14.86) and Chandler Gibbens (1,600 meters in 4:20.27). The same runners also won the 4x800 relay in 8:09.

The Kewpies' George Monroe won the 100-meter dash in 11.18 seconds and finished eighth in the long jump at 19 feet, 5.5 inches. Cortney Watkins took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.25 and the 300 hurdles in 39.28. Devin Turner placed fourth in the triple jump at 40 feet, 10.25 inches, and Isaac Saathoff placed fourth in the mile at 4:34.

In the girls meet, Hickman's Karly Parcell won the discus with a personal-best throw of 131 feet, 7 inches. Emma Chapman placed second in the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches. The 4x200 relay of Lily Ashrafzadeh, Ellie Orr, Promise Nennie and Iyonna Donaby took second in 1:48, and Grace Brinkmann placed second in the 1,600 meters in 5:22. Orr also placed third in the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches).
