The Russians did it; democracy is doomed

Print Article

The Russians did it. They won. Western style Democracy will cease to exist. It may not end tomorrow or even a decade from now, but it is doomed. The accepted narrative is that the Russians attempted to meddle in the last presidential election trying to get one candidate elected over the other with limited results.Virtually every talking head, commentator, politician, and security expert ramble on ad infinitum utilizing that as their primary talking point. That theory is asinine. Anyone with two brain cells still in communication with each other should know better.

The Russians didn’t care which candidate was elected. One democratically elected president is the same as another to them. Their problem with us is that our elections are democratic. The Russians are playing long ball. They have studied us. They know that Americans have short attention spans. They know our media outlets report every small event with the same hysteria as a hormone-ravaged adolescent spotting a huge pimple on the end of their nose to get eyes on their channel.

That is what bothers me. Politicians, “journalists,” and security “experts” used to be jaded and never accepted such simplistic ploys. Not any more, in today’s destroy your political opponent at all cost to keep your base ginned up atmosphere, they all reacted exactly as the Russians knew they would. The Russians’ goal was to nurture an existing malignant cancer in our system. They succeeded spectacularly.
