He is accustomed to people calling him an “award winning cinematographer” and he decided to multi-task and become an award winning chef specializing in Italian food. He approached chef Jim Lippi and asked if he would teach him to cook. Jim agreed and a series of 12 lessons were set to take place in Jim’s restaurant. Sad to say, Jim terminated the arrangement after three sessions saying, “I finally gave up. I gave him my recipe for ravioli and he made lutefisk, which is a Scandinavian dish of dried cod, preserved in potash lye, then skinned, boned, and boiled. I am sure it is delicious, but not Italian. I tried again with the same outcome — lutefisk. I gave up and Erik will have to be content with being called, “award winning cinematographer and lutefisk specialist.”)

Make opinion known on Clagstone Meadows
I have often heard numerous county residents complain that growth and development is destroying Bonner County’s rural environment. I agree. Clagstone Meadows’ massive development is a giant step in that direction. Why then were so few residents, other than those living in the immediate area of Clagstone, present at the recent planning commission public hearings to voice their concerns, oppositions, and opinions?
Those in U.S. illegally should be deported
Re: Mr. Wynhausen’s letter chastising welfare workers for releasing names of probable illegal aliens. Hispanics who are not here illegally do not need to be “terrified.” Informants are used in law enforcement all the time to apprehend criminals, which is what illegal aliens are, even if they do vote democratic. If they are leaching off the U.S. welfare system illegally, they should be caught and deported, and congratulations to those who point them out.

Democrats represent working Americans
From his letter, Mr. Johnson doesn’t seem to like lawyers running for office, and thinks the GOP is made up of “real people doing real work.” On the other hand, Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer who built the Republican party into a strong national organization. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were not lawyers but were early leaders of the Democratic party.

Don't let maggots worm way into home
Over the last month I’ve received six calls from new homeowners that have “toilet maggots.” All of these homes were bought through the foreclosure process and had set vacant for 6 months or more. All of these homes were on a septic system which had been pumped; waste elimination, before the home was occupied. All of these homes had the old septic tank with a large portal for sewage extraction. All of these homes had been refurbished except for the toilets which seemed salvageable. All of the new home owners were horrified; especially the wife, at seeing these little buggers wiggling around at the bottom of the toilet bowl.

Sandpoint needs to use common sense
Amazing. Long touted as a major problem for Sandpoint and its businesses, the lack of downtown parking got a boost from the esteemed Jeremy Grimm (or is it Grinch?) when he put his weight behind the “need” to pave the parking area on the corner of Fourth and Oak Street.I was born and raised in Sandpoint and have been here for 69 years. I rarely shop downtown any more, because I simply cannot find a place to park in the summer. Now Mr. Grimm is adding to the downtown core’s woes by forcing PSB to close off a much-needed and heavily used area of parking.
