It was a slap-down of a party whose stated priority was not solving economic problems unparalleled since the 1930s, not addressing reasons for a shrinking middle class, not examining issues of fairness and equality, but to make Barack Obama was a one-term president at any cost. That is shameful behavior by public servants.

The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years”. The author was Alexander Tytler, an 18th century Scottish historian.

The passing of George McGovern brings back memories of the time when we were flying from B-24 air bases near Cerignola in Italy. Our planes were in the same formations, going over the same targets together, and getting shot at by the same flak guns.
Newspaper erred in publishing letter
The fact that you would publish something as patently idiotic as the letter from Robin Ulbredtch (Daily Bee, Oct. 16) speaks volumes about the shallowness and complete lack of journalistic credibility of the editorial staff of the Daily Bee.
We are in good hands with our future voters
If you are worrying about our youth, don’t. I had the opportunity to visit Sandpoint High School on Oct. 25-26 and address the young people studying all about government and the privilege and right to vote.

SF, magazine set film school
SANDPOINT — A new Sandpoint Forward initiative promises to put even more outside eyes on the charms of the Panhandle region.
Republican Party ignores vets' needs
Since I was discharged from the Army in 1968, I have yet to see the GOP helping veterans, e.g., when in power the GOP fights increases in funding for the VA hospital system. The GOP has no problem sending our young men and women to war, but once they are beyond military service the GOP no longer has any use for ‘em and would prefer the veteran died so as not be a drain on the “system”.
In poor economy, sales tax unwise
In these times of economic uncertainty now is not the time for a new tax.

Vote for progress and vote Democrat
According to Webster’s dictionary, compromise is defined as “a settlement of differences reached by mutual concessions.” It seems that Mr. Barbieri, one of our North Idaho state representatives, has no use for any such concessions when it comes to the subject of governance.
Party politics is legalized treason
As a World War II vet, I find today’s politics a bit open loop to reality. It’s as if we have run America through a shredder and lost sight of the fact that we re one nation under God. We need American leaders for America. We don’t need politicized leaders who cater to a collection of special interests or that can be blackmailed to support a special interest. Selecting leaders is not a media game show or a street mob operation. It is a serious business.
Luna's plan hurts school, education
Tom Luna and big business technology companies would like you to think your student’s future is at risk. Ask yourself: Why are they trying to secure your vote? Is it because they will get rich from the computers, curriculum, testing and resulting data they are selling?
Farris will be a real leader for Idaho
It is time we elect a real and effective leader to represent Idaho in Congress.
Hull honest and straightforward
I am writing to publicly voice my support for Tevis Hull for prosecutor.
Protect our heritage by passing HJR2
Idahoans have the opportunity to protect a part of their state’s heritage on Nov. 6, by voting yes on HJR2. This resolution will amend the Idaho Constitution, protecting our rights to hunt, fish, and trap. Idaho is blessed with varied natural resources. Harvest of Idaho’s abundant animal resources was a vital part of human existence, long before (and after) the white man arrived.

Financially, reform doesn't add up
For those who don’t know who to believe on propositions 1 2 3, perhaps a look from a purely financial perspective will help them decide how to vote.
Ed reform holds schools accountable
We finally have a few issues on the ballot that take a little power away from the National Education Association, that being propositions 1 and 2. The NEA uses its influence to promote its agenda in and out of the classroom, to change America into a godless socialistic state.
Waldrup will move us in right direction
I have been a longtime Bonner County resident and I generally pay attention to the local courts.
Vote Tevis Hull for prosecuting attorney
Vote Tevis Hull for a more sane Bonner County. We have known Tevis for a lifetime and we are confident he will uphold the duties of county prosecutor.

MOSCOW — Payton Bokowy won a whopping 11 events and finished second in two others, and Emily Deitz was second in seven events and third in two others to lead the Sandpoint Sharks at the Trick or Treat swim meet on Saturday at the University of Idaho Swim Center.
Write in Lewis Rich for commissioner
The reason I would write in Lewie Rich’s name for county commissioner:
Hull has the integrity to do the job right
What men among you would do something that was right, knowing that it would cost you your job as it id for Tevis Hull back in 1997. I’m guessing no one. He knew if he didn’t charge in the Higgins case that the police would lose faith with him. His family was so proud of him. That he had the integrity to follow through with what he did.
Don't believe Luna's hype on ed reform
As a teacher, I urge you to vote no on propositions 1, 2 and 3.
Tax will cost more than it will help

Broadsword will make great commissioner
Joyce Broadsword has served the public admirably as the Idaho senator for District 2, demonstrating her leadership ability as the vice chair of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee, and membership on the Senate Commerce and Human Affairs Committee, and the Agricultural Affairs Committee. Her experience in the Idaho Senate will be a real asset to her as a county commissioner.

Daryl Wheeler is a man of integrity
After retiring from a 32-year career in law enforcement in the state of New Jersey, my wife and I relocated to Clark Fork in 1995. In a short period of time, I became acquainted with Deputy Daryl Wheeler. I was very impressed with Deputy Wheeler’s demeanor, professionalism and concern for the people of Bonner County.
Broadsword is Dem posing as Republican
Having listened to Joyce Broadsword constantly describe herself as a conservative Republican, it was interesting to see her glowing endorsement of the Independent state senatorial candidate in District 7, a fellow with a dizzying record of switching party affiliation.
Broadsword will improve county government
For quality county management I support Joyce Broadsword for Bonner County commissioner. Economic development is important to Joyce; she will facilitate bringing businesses/quality jobs into the county. Joyce’s past positions have developed her management and leadership qualities. These first-hand experiences will lead the county employees and citizens of the county to opportunities to positive results.
Broadsword will bring common sense to county
Election day is only days away. Please remember to vote for Joyce Broadsword for county commissioner. She is a candidate that has a true common sense approach to county government. She was supported in the primary by people such as the Linscotts, Richard Hutter, and Mindy Cameron. The Daily Bee also supported Joyce’s campaign.
Rocky Jordan is only choice for sheriff
Rocky Jordan is our only choice for Sheriff. He has experience, honesty, loyalty and integrity. I am the Commander of Bonner County Sheriff Search and Rescue, and 14 year volunteer. In addition to SAR operations, we also volunteer our time to the Sheriff providing crime scene security, conducting evidence searches, property searches, and other law enforcement duties at no expense. I am discouraged at how little support we have had the last 4 years from Wheeler. We have been lied to and taken advantage of, while the sheriff’s office was enriched. Sheriff Wheeler’s word is worthless, along with Undersheriff Bussey. I am disturbed that he gets a 25-percent pay increase while I am taking a 25-percent pay cut to survive this economy.
Propositions' price is too high for Idaho
The greatness of our nation was built on the belief that every child has a right to a free, equitable public education. Propositions 1, 2 and 3 take that right away from students, parents, teachers, and our local community. Students are our future and most precious resource yet Idaho nationally ranks 50th in per-pupil spending. In spite of dismal and inadequate school funding, consider only the facts of Idaho’s new $182 million, eight-year laptop contract with Hewlett-Packard: H-P retains title to all computers Idaho rents the computers BUT is liable for loss, damage, or theft

Broadsword has shown lack of trust
Let me get this straight, Ms. Broadsword, who was elected in the primaries by the voters of Bonner County as the Republican nominee for one of the County Commissioners’ positions, has publicly endorsed a Democrat man in District 7, and not the incumbent Republican woman.
