Checking your blood pressure often key to your health
Here’s the scenario. You go in for your annual physical (you’ve all done this recently, right?) and one of the first things the nurse does is take your blood pressure. Now, this may be right after you got weighed, so you blame that on its elevated number. But wait, the practitioner comes in and takes it again a few minutes later, and maybe mutters a noise that sounds like “ummmm.”

Solve problem, don't just move raccoons
I guess it’s about time to voice my opinion about city raccoons. These cute little “bandits” eating all of your cat and dog food (don’t leave it out at night.) So you city people get tired of feeding them, live trap them and bring them out to Round Lake State Park to release them. Then, they play havoc with our local duck and chicken raisers, who have to use the services of the local state trapper. By this time, these “coons” are trap wise and keep eating ducks and chickens.

Men's disobedience prompted by dishonor
I want to add to Christie Pearson’ letter regarding the “big bang” theory versus God as Creator. It had a title, “Why was honor given to men and not God?” The question can be answered easily: men’s disobedience to God’s laws. To prevent people from believing the “big bang,” evolution and other false ideas, Jesus set aside one day of the week (the seventh) to honor Him as Creator and keep ever before us the power He has. To show how important this is for us, He engraved a commandment in stone, telling us to: “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy … for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day …” (Exodus 20:8-11)

Make your voice heard on school standards
As a member of a grassroots group of engaged citizens, Citizens Empowering Education, I have been researching the Idaho State Standards for about a year. One of the issues that I questioned is if we should be concerned about the upcoming testing in our schools. This question is vital since these tests will be used to evaluate our students, teachers and schools. In order to gain more information, I requested feedback from our state’s superintendents. I then received this letter from a superintendent in southern Idaho. It concerns the assessments that our district will be giving this spring, the SBAC, Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium. CCSS refers to Common Core State Standards. I quote:
Thoughts on water, power and lake level
The writer of the opinion piece, “Lake study leaves citizens high and dry,” is missing the point. First off, Lake Pend Oreille technically became a reservoir when the gates were closed on Albeni Falls Dam in 1953 thus impounding water above the lakes natural seasonal pool levels. The dam brought with it a regulated summer high pool that benefited all adjoiners and the public at large. If it were not for the dam, places like Oden Bay would be mud flats after the spring runoff and hayed in late summer.
