Apr. 5, 1970 – TIMBLIN IS MISS SANDPOINT

As Dale Lange sang “Our Miss Sandpoint,” a radiant Miss Kitty Timblin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Timblin, was crowned Miss Sandpoint Saturday before a crowd of over 700 at the SHS auditorium. Princesses were Diane LaMoreaux, first; Janice Forest, second; Jackie Brockway, third; and Valliere Hiatt, fourth. Miss Timblin won both the Swimsuit and Formal awards, Miss Ruby Fitchett was voted Miss Congeniality and Miss LaMoreaux received the Most Talented award.

NORDGAARDEN SWEEPS HONORS

Ed Nordgaarden, Sandpoint, walked off with both his class and the overall titles in the annual businessmen’s races at Schweitzer Basin, and was presented with both the Norca trophy and the silver tray Budweiser trophy. The races were for men who had participated in the businessmen’s day earlier in the season. Nordgaarden was in the class of Al Voltz, Schweitzer Ski School director.

ENLISTED IN NAVY

Michael Dean Widerstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Widerstrom, Kootenai, left Sunday for San Diego, following his recent enlistment in the Navy.

UGLY MAN OUT

The SHS Booster Club canceled its Ugliest Man Contest last week due to the lack of interest by the students, says Dave Winfrey, president.

Apr. 5, 1920 – IMPROVING HOTEL

In order to provide more space for the dining room, the Wisconsin House hotel (207 N. First) is being improved. The stairway which formerly separated the dining room and office is being moved to include the space formerly occupied by the office in a new and enlarged dining room.

HUMBIRD WILL USE BIG MACK TRUCKS

The Humbird Lumber company is expecting delivery of three gigantic Mack trucks which will be used this summer in logging operations near McArthur. The trucks, ordered some time ago, are of 7½ ton size. An innovation in woods work in this section, the trucks are designed to do work which the company was unable to perform the past winter on account of light snows which prevented a wide scope of sleighing operations.

CALL FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the board of county commissioners of Bonner county for the clearing and stumping of the Pack River – Sunnyside road. All bids must be filed before 10 o’clock a.m. April 13, 1920.

Allen P. Asher departed last week for Camas Hot Springs, Montana, where he will receive medical treatment for several weeks.
