Giddings withdraws from county race

SANDPOINT — The race for the Republican nomination for the District 1 seat on the Bonner County commission is no longer a three-way contest.

Sagle resident Jason Giddings made the candidate filing deadline, but withdrew from the race before the sample ballot for the May 19 primary election.

Incumbent Steven Bradshaw of Cocolalla will face Sagle resident Butch Horton in the primary. The winner of the contest will face Sagle Democrat Steve Johnson in the general election in November.

The primary election is being conducted entirely by mail with absentee ballots. No polling locations will be open for voting on May 19.

The Idaho Secretary of State is mailing all registered voters absentee ballots this month. Those who wish ballots sooner can visit the Bonner County Elections page (bonnercountyid.gov) and download a ballot request form.
