Work continues on downtown project

SANDPOINT — Phase II of the city’s downtown revitalization project is set to finish on May 14. Most businesses on First Avenue remain closed to the public due to Idaho’s stay-at-home order.

Majority of sidewalks and brick pavers are complete on First Avenue from Main Street to Cedar Street at Second Avenue. Construction crews will work on installing brick pavers, plant new trees and landscape in the coming weeks. This section of the road will be occasionally closed to vehicles during the day and open on nights and weekends.

On First Avenue between Main and Church streets, crews have made substantial progress on the concrete sidewalks and well placed brick pavers, which will continue into next week.

Avista Utilities, an energy company, has completed new street lights installed throughout the roadways and new green ornamental pedestrian lights will be installed soon. The installation of these lights are a separate contract due to grant funding and are scheduled for completion in early June.
