USCGA hosting safe boating class

SANDPOINT — U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a course on boating safety and seamanship.

The course will cover navigation, charting, mechanics, rules of the road, courtesies and customs, seamanship, ropes and knots, sailing basics, boat part identification, safety procedures, signage, boat selection, trailering, weather, radios, and more.

Certificates are presented upon completion of course examination. Most insurance companies offer a discount on boat insurance to policy holders who have certification.

Cost is $35. Class fee includes manual and test materials.
