City announces parks workshops

| January 11, 2020 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The city of Sandpoint and its consultants, GreenPlay, LLC, are hosting a series of public workshops next week to finalize the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and specific site plans.

City officials said there will be several opportunities on Tuesday and Wednesday for the community to provide input on three specific sites — City Beach, the downtown waterfront, and the Sandpoint Sports Complex, which encompasses Travers, Centennial and Great Northern parks. The workshops are divided by site, so community members can attend one or all three. There will also be an open house where people can come by to discuss any or all of the sites, followed by a City Council workshop on Wednesday, which will cover the overall draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

Workshops scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, will be held in City Council chambers at City Hall, 1123 Lake St. Workshops include:

- City Beach, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

- Downtown Waterfront, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

- Travers/Centennial/Great Northern, 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 15

Workshops scheduled for Jan. 15, include:

- Downtown Waterfront, 8-9 a.m. at Little Panida Theater, 300 N First Ave. Downtown business owners, managers and employees are especially encouraged to attend.

The remaining Wednesday workshops will all be held in City Council chambers. The workshop times are:

- City Beach, 11 a.m.-noon

- Downtown Waterfront, noon-1 p.m.

- Travers/Centennial/Great Northern 1-2 p.m.

- Open house — all 3 plans, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

The Sandpoint City Council will host a workshop to discuss the overall Parks and Recreation Master Plan draft at their meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15. The public is encouraged to participate in this workshop.
