CLARK FORK — A 2 point fourth quarter and a number of turnovers down the stretch allowed Lakeside to take down the Lady Cats 46-40 Wednesday night in a North Star League game.

Clark Fork led 38-33 entering the fourth quarter, but mistakes cost them as the Knights slowly chipped away at the deficit and retook the lead for the first time since early in the first quarter with about three minutes left.

Trailing 41-40, the Lady Cats looked rushed on offense and were unable to get any good looks at the basket allowing Lakeside the opportunity to seal the game at the free-throw line.

Fortunately, the Knights struggled knocking down free throws late, only hitting five of their 10 attempts, which helped Clark Fork stay in it. But it wasn’t their night as four of their eight players fouled out, leaving them with only four players on the court for their final possession.

Clark Fork led 24-16 at the half, but were outscored 30-16 in the final two quarters.

Considering the Lady Cats lost 54-25 at Lakeside on Dec. 14, it was valiant effort by Clark Fork.

Head coach Jordan Adams was proud of her teams effort and said her young team is still learning how to execute down the stretch in tight games.

“It’s the little things and at the end of the day those are things you can adjust and fix,” she said. “I told them they should not be disappointed in that game. They should walk out with their heads up.”

Senior Ellie Kiebert led all scorers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sara Hathaway added 7 points and five steals.

Clark Fork (5-8, 1-3 NSL) heads to Noxon 4 p.m. Friday.
