A warning bell helps keep walkers, bikers safe

| July 5, 2020 1:00 AM

I was visiting from Lewiston recently and was lucky to discover your wonderful walking and biking trails.

If I might make a suggestion to the bikers, please install a bell on your bike to warn pedestrians of your approach. A tinkle on your bell will alert walkers in a much nicer way then yelling “right” or “left.” Not only will this make the walking experience more enjoyable but the biker doesn’t have to be abrasive.

A little hint for ringing your bell is to start at about 50 yards and keep ringing until you’re acknowledged. Note: older people require more ringing.
