ICF’s Idaho Future Fund grants $98K in north Idaho

The Idaho Future Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation is providing $98,000 in grants to 10 education projects in northern Idaho.

The Idaho Future Fund was established at ICF in 2015 by an anonymous couple from Blaine County. Grants from the fund are intended to create, sustain or reinvigorate impactful educational programs throughout the state in the areas of preschool scholarships, charter schools, public schools/public school libraries and supplemental educational programs.

Recipients of Idaho Future Fund grants in the north are:

Bonner County

• Eureka Institute – $10,000 to work with at-risk youth to build bus shelters at frequently used bus stops along the Selkirk Pend Oreille Transit line in order to protect public transit riders from inclement weather and keep them safe.

• Lee Pesky Learning Center – $10,000 to train and mentor approximately pre-k through second-grade educators in the West Bonner School District (Priest Lake) in evidence-based literacy, math and self-regulation practices.

• Memorial Community Center, Inc. – $12,928 to continue offering a preschool program.

• Priest Lake Education Foundation, Inc. – $6,500 to provide Ready! for Kindergarten to Priest Lake Preschool and Priest Lake-area parents with children ages birth to five years old.

Kootenai County

• Children’s Village, Inc. – $7,000 to fund an on-campus summer to provide children with physical, mental and academic activities.

• Consolidated Free Library District – $7,069 to create a high quality, family-friendly early learning space that is free and open to all members of the community.

• Kootenai Joint School District #274 – $20,000 to initiate a preschool to serve the students within the district and possibly the neighboring district.

• Kootenai Elementary School – $6,103 to provide a STEM-enhanced school library and summer reading experience.
