Gov. Little deserves thanks, not recall

| July 14, 2020 1:00 AM

That oft-used phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” seems currently apropos.

The recent movement to recall Gov. Brad Little for his apparently egregious actions protecting Idahoans from this pandemic that has, so far, taken over 120,000 American lives and infected over 2.24 million — more than in any other country in the world — is an example.

But the people looking to recall him are upset at his handling of this pandemic because he didn’t “… change our course of direction because (COVID-19) has not affected Idaho the way we expected it to …” Isn’t that a good thing?

Shame on him for keeping us safe — often defying his party’s radicals who proclaimed that the world-wide pandemic was a hoax, hyped by media, was not as serious as (yes, it turned out to be.) I, personally, think all Idahoans should stand up and salute and cheer our beleaguered governor for his good work on our behalf.

The recallers are complaining that they somehow had their “rights” trampled on because the person who was elected to protect them did exactly that.

It’s a “no-brainer,” realizing that Idahoans’ “right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” (in other words the right to stay alive, stay healthy so we can pursue happiness) overrides the “right” to go the bar, attend crowded events, go out to eat like we enjoyed before we were so brutally attacked by this viral invader.

Yes, Idaho is fortunate to be a state where social distancing is easier than most (7th least populated; 14th largest geographically). But now, as the state opens up for business again, guess what? (As I write this) we just had the most new daily cases reported since April 9.

Recalling Gov. Little is most definitely not a fix.
