Dora Bruce

Dora Mary Bruce “Dora” passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, in Caldwell, Idaho.

She was born and raised in Priest River, Idaho, later attending the University of Idaho where she earned a bachelor of science degree in microbiology and an associate degree in chemistry. She interned at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane and after which had a long and successful professional career as a clinical technologist.

While at the University of Idaho, Dora met Solon “Bud” Bruce, who would become her husband and life-long partner. They were married in Priest River and started their life together as a Navy family. Dora lived in Guam and later in San Diego where her first son, Daris, was born. A year later, her second son, Shaun, was born in Ventura. The family settled into their home in Oxnard, California, where Dora would live until 2014. She moved to Camarillo, where she lived with her son Shaun until she moved to Idaho late 2019 where she remained until her passing.

Dora had a thirst for knowledge and passion for life. She treasured her time with family, in particular family trips. She loved the outdoors and returning to Priest River where she and Bud spent their summers after retirement.

Dora was a loving wife, devoted mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sons Daris and Shaun; grandchildren, Matt, Nicolette, Shaun, and Erik; and great-grandchildren, Hattie and Estella. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
