Free Fishing Day at golf course canceled

While Idaho’s Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 13, all Idaho Department of Fish & Game hosted events have been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. While many public waters have been stocked as in years past, the Priest Lake Golf Course is those location which will not receive fish or be hosting an event in 2020, IFG officials said.

Other sites that have not been stocks or hosting event are the Ponderosa Springs Golf Course, Rathdrum City Park, and Snow Creek (Lion’s Den) Pond.

Hatchery staff have been diligently stocking many other family fishing waters over the last three months. .

Also stocked with rainbow trout in the past few weeks were Cocolalla, Round, Kelso, Freeman and Mirror lakes in Bonner County and Smith and Robinson lakes in Boundary County. Westslope cutthroat troats were also stocked in Spirit Lake in Kootenai County and in Cocolalla Lake in mid-May.

A complete list of stocked waters in the Panhandle is available online at idfg.idaho.gov/stocking. Free Fishing Day allows people to fish in Idaho without a license. All other fishing regulations and Recreate Responsibly Idaho guidelines still apply. Kids age 13 and under can fish for free year-round.
