Grouse Creek road closure lifts today

The Sandpoint Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests will lift a road closure today for the Grouse Creek Road.

In late May, Forest Service Road 280, Grouse Creek Road, was significantly impacted with flood damage at mile marker 2 and was closed for public safety to motorized travelers. The water flows have since decreased. Users traveling to the Grouse Creek Road should drive cautious near this area, and expect narrow, rough spots in the road.

Summer is in full swing in Bonner County and the Sandpoint Ranger District wants the public to enjoy the forest.

“We recognize the use and importance of the Grouse Creek Road for recreation and landowner access in the Sandpoint Area,” said Michelle Caviness, Acting Sandpoint District Ranger. “First and foremost, we want to provide for public safety. We will be doing some more road construction this summer to reinforce the stream bank and road, those repairs will likely occur after July 15 to fit the aquatic window for performing stream work.”
