Four hurt as three motorcycles crash

| May 25, 2020 5:21 PM

Four people were taken to Kootenai Health following an accident on Interstate 90 near Fourth of July Pass about noon Monday.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 2008 Harley Davidson ridden by James H. Pound, 52, of Sagle, was westbound with two other motorcycles, a 2015 Victoria ridden by Christopher W. Loll, 52, of Sandpoint and a 2006 Harley Davidson ridden by Robert E. Shaw, 62, of Show Low, Arizona and his passenger, Melissa K. Shaw, 52, of Spirit Lake.

Pound was riding adjacent to Loll when he bumped into him, causing Loll to crash into the center divider where he was ejected and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder near milepost 26, an ISP press release said.

Pound also crashed as a result of bumping into Loll, the release said.

Shaw was traveling behind both Pound and Loll and attempted to avoid the collision but crashed into Pound’s bike, the release said.

All occupants were transported to Kootenai Health by ground ambulance. All four were wearing helmets, ISP said.

The westbound lanes of I-90 were blocked for about an hour while the eastbound fast lane was blocked for about 35-40 minutes.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
