“Through wind and rain, snow and sleet we will not be deterred from our mission”, a statement that exemplifies this Woman of Wisdom for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women Honoring Women committee, Carol Warren.

Warren and her family moved to Sandpoint in the early 2000s. They came from the Chicago area where she worked in the educational diagnosis field and special education. While in West Aurora she was a board member of the Child Welfare Society and was gift corner chairperson. One of the most significant aspects of her life that says much about her caring nature is that Warren has been a host mother to 17 Rotary foreign exchange students from all over the world.

Warren has many interests in the community: She serves in Sandpoint Rotary as the club assistant secretary, the club weekly newsletter editor, volunteer SAG support for the CHAFE 150 ride and WACANID ride, served on the chamber board of directors and Ambassador Committee chairman for eight years, served on the Rotary Club Board and was a Rotary Club Youth Exchange counselor. She also volunteers her time on SPOT transportation and the Festival at Sandpoint.

She has volunteered at the food bank for 16 years helping individuals and families during their greatest time of need. She serves on the Bonner Community Food Bank Board, plus volunteers 28 hours a week. Warren is a hard worker in anything she does, she is the type of person who will take the lead or accomplish anything asked of her. Some of her current tasks are delivering weekend food kits to local elementary schools. As a former teacher she was aware of students who were always hungry and that she wanted to do something about the hunger. Debbie Love, food bank executive director, says when Warren is present they never have a bad day, she rolls up her sleeves and will often ask “What can I do next, boss?”

Warren is a great example of a Woman of Wisdom, she is genuine and the real deal. She continues to make a significant impact in our community and is deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

To be nominated for Woman of Wisdom, candidates must be 65 years or older. She possesses vision and achieves goals through collaboration. She exhibits a love of learning through the pursuit of knowledge by study or experience. She shows a commitment to the Bonner County community and its members, and has had a positive impact, such as in the areas of art, music, theater, dance, sports, education and service. She demonstrates dedicated leadership that results in admiration and respect from others. She is an inspiration to others and an example for future generations of women. She faces life’s challenges with grace and courage, and lives with dignity, integrity and honor.
