9 Spartans garner all-league honors, Rantala earns spot on 'Dirty Dozen'
PRIEST RIVER — All-league teams were released last week and a handful of Priest River athletes received recognition for their efforts this fall.
In football, five Spartans earned 3A IML all-league honors. Senior Coby Rogers claimed first team honors at running back and second team for his play at linebacker. Junior Jordan Nortz was named a first-team returner and second-team wide receiver.
Senior Kent Alexander grabbed first team honors on the defensive line, junior Kameron Salesky garnered second team honors at linebacker and sophomore Matyus McLain secured second team honors at tight end.
In soccer, four players from Priest River notched spots on the all-league teams. On the girls side, seniors Makia Fitzmorris and Hannah Palfrey received recognition for their play.
Juniors Erik Deem and Bowen Fegert claimed all-league selections for the boys.
The District I cross country team was also announced last week.
Senior Annika Rantala received a spot on the girls team. The squad, also referred to as the "Dirty Dozen," is made up of the 12 best runners and a Runner of the Year in District 1 regardless of classification.
