Heather, Janicki atop LPOIC Derby standings
SANDPOINT — A fun day of "fishing on the pond" was followed by a pretty slow day on Monday.
Sunday saw new leaders in the adult rainbow, adult Mackinaw, and the Youth A divisions with Blake Heather, Dave Janicki and Fisher LaRue all catching their way onto the top of the leaderboard. All held their spots following a slow day on the lake, Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club's Dave Gillespie reported.
Blake Heather caught a 26.1-pound, 37-inch rainbow to take the top spot away from Dave Covey; a spot he held onto on Monday. In the adult Mackinaw division, Dave Janicki caught a 9.2-pound, 30-inch Sunday with the lead again holding through Monday's action. Fisher LaRue nabbed a 21.63-pound rainbow on the derby's second day to claim the top spot in the Youth A Division and released the fish live.
Rounding out the top four in the adult rainbow division are Dan Covey with a 23.83-pound, 37-inch rainbow in second, Dave Gillespie with a 22.48-pound, 36-inch rainbow for third, and Cory LaRue with a 22.13-pound, 35-inch rainbow for fourth place. Covey, Gillespie and LaRue all released their fish live.
In the adult Mackinaw division, rounding out the leaderboard are
Kenny Bartlett with a 6.4-pound, 25-inch fish in second, followed by Dale Greene with a 5.64 pound, 25.5-inch fish in third, Bert Dennett, with 3.3-pound, 21-inch Mackinaw for fourth, followed by Mike Perry, 3.8-pound, 19 inches, for fifth, Dough Lambrecht, 2.71 pound, 21 inches for sixth and Tim Farmin 0.88 pounds and 14.5 inches, in seventh.
In the Youth B bracket, Abby Hamilton caught an 8.2-pound, 27-inch rainbow on opening day to top the division. Bentley Landingham nabbed a 7.4-pound, 25-inch rainbow to slip into second place in the division on the third day the derby. Liberty O'Hara caught a 7.03-pound, 25.5-inch rainbow on opening day and now sits in third place in the division. Both Hamilton and O'Hara released their fish live.
