PHD funding withdrawal on board's agenda

SANDPOINT — Bonner County Commissioner Steven Bradshaw's proposed resolution to strip funding from the Panhandle Health District is slated for discussion by the board on Tuesday.

Bradshaw proposed the resolution in response to the district's order earlier this month requiring the use of face masks in public if social distancing cannot be accomplished. The order applies to five of Idaho's northernmost counties and was imposed to limit the spread of novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.

Bradshaw's resolution would stop the county from making financial contributions to the district. The county has budgeted $256,985 for the district in the current spending plan, according to county Clerk Michael Rosedale.
