Call on senators to reject Barrett nomination

| October 20, 2020 1:00 AM

The Senate votes Oct. 22 on Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court. If confirmed, she will vote to overturn the Affordable Care Act in the middle of a pandemic, doing away with pre-existing conditions and Medicaid expansion.

Hundreds and hundreds of people, including me, worked for 9 months to get Medicaid Expansion passed. I did it because I knew two working friends who died because they didn't have health insurance. One of them was the director of our volunteer clinic for working people in Bonner County who could not afford health care. I have another friend whose life was saved from breast cancer by the Affordable Care Act. And a local child carer who was saved from urinary cancer. Both were able to keep their houses.

If we call our senators now and tell them to vote against Barrett they will understand that we are serious, and that we don't want to have to keep doing their work for them. Jim Risch can be reached at 202-224-2752 and Mike Crapo at 202-224-6142
