Since the Bonner General Health Foundation held it’s 2020 Heart Ball in February of this year, the world has dramatically changed. Healthcare workers have been on the front lines, putting their health at risk each and every day as they face the pandemic that has controlled the way we live our lives.

As the Foundation looks forward to its annual Heart Ball on February 6, 2021, it continues to keep our community and the well-being of all at the forefront. For that reason, the Foundation Board has made the decision to hold the Heart Ball virtually.

“We are working hard to make it unique and fun, encouraging people to gather with their friends and family and hold individual, small gatherings,” said Georgia Simmons who serves as the chairperson for the Heart Ball. “We want it to be the same festive event it always has been.”

Those who sponsor the event and hold a party of up to ten people will have a gourmet meal delivered to their doors and will also have video access to all other sponsored parties through a dedicated You Tube channel which will be set up ahead of time.

“It’s a fun way to get the bidding wars going and to see the creativity of each party,” said Justin Dick who heads the fundraising committee for the Bonner General Health Foundation.

Unlike in the past when auction packages included international trips and fun-filled Disney vacations, this year’s auction items will be more COVID friendly whilee also serving to support our own local businesses who have suffered throughout the last several months.

“It’s really a win-win situation,” said Board member Grant Simmons. “We want the packages to be fun and adventurous while also doing what we can to support our friends and neighbors whose businesses have suffered due to COVID.”

With specific details still being finalized, the Bonner General Health Foundation Board is encouraged by the community support the hospital has received over the course of the year and is hopeful that the support will translate into another successful event in February 2021.

“The hospital needs our support now more than ever, and the money raised at our 2021 Heart Ball will go to serve various departments instead of one big project as it has in the past,” said Georgia Simmons.

Stay tuned on how you can support our local hospital and healthcare providers.
