NAMI Far North hosting meeting

SANDPOINT — The community is invited to join NAMI—Far North Idaho for a Zoom presentation for its Sept. 16 meeting.

Idaho Sen. Jim Woodward, R-Sandpoint, will be the featured speaker.

Woodward, who was raised in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, earned a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Idaho. Following college, Woodward joined the U.S. Navy where he served on a nuclear-powered submarine. He completed seven years of active duty and 14 years in the reserves.

Woodward and his wife Brenda have two children. His parents are Mike and Gini Woodward of Bonners Ferry. In addition, Woodward has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in the area. His sister, Debbie, has battled mental illness since her late teenage years. She is in assisted living in Coeur d’Alene presently and doing well.

Woodward owns APEX Construction Services and is the Idaho state senator for Legislative District 1, which encompasses all of Boundary County and most of Bonner County. He also serves on the Northern Lights Electric Cooperative board and as a fire district commissioner for the Sagle Fire District.
