MULLAN — The Clark Fork volleyball team opened North Star League play Tuesday night with a three-set victory at Mullan.

The Lady Cats won 25-17, 25-20, 25-22.

Head coach Michelle Valliere was happy her team walked away with the win, but she thought they could've played better.

"We did OK," she said. "We were a little off our game tonight, but the girls pushed through and won, and that's what matters."

Clark Fork opened its season last Thursday with a thrilling five-set victory over 3A Bonners Ferry. Valliere said the Lady Cats didn't bring that same intensity to this match.

"We need to move a little faster and get to defense a little quicker," she said. "They were just slow. Really kind of just stuck and watching and not anticipating and moving, so we'll be working on that at practice this week."

Junior Caiya Yanik led Clark Fork with 13 digs and seven kills. Sophomore setter Paige Valliere had 17 set assists and junior Katelyn Matteson tallied five aces.

Thursday's game at home against Lakeside has been postponed. Clark Fork (2-0, 1-0 NSL) will host Wallace 6 p.m. next Tuesday.

"I'm expecting that game to be pretty good," Valliere said.
