On January 6, 1947, he was born to Larry and Bea Glahe in East Hope, Idaho. He spent his early years in East Hope before the family moved to Tumwater, Washington.

In high school, he played a number of sports and made a great many friendships – in fact, he never missed a reunion. Larry graduated from Tumwater High School in 1965 and shortly after enrolled in the United States Navy. He served four years during the Vietnam War in the nuclear submarine service on the U.S.S. Thornback.

After his time in the service, he returned to Olympia, Washington where he earned his associate degree in civil engineering. He spent several years in Olympia before moving his young family back to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1978. Larry worked as a surveyor primarily in Sandpoint, Hope, Clark Fork and throughout the Pacific Northwest for many years before earning his Idaho Professional Land Surveyor License (PLS #5713) and then establishing Tri-State Land Surveying in 1986.

Larry was an active and highly respected member of the Sandpoint community. He coached soccer several years for the Sandpoint Strikers and Sandpoint High School boys soccer and served as District 1 (North Idaho) commissioner for the Idaho Soccer Federation. He donated time and resources to a number of youth sports and other organizations for many years. Larry also served a term as a commissioner for the Sandpoint Independent Highway District.

When Larry wasn’t working hard to support his family, he enjoyed golfing, attending Seahawks games, a good game of blackjack in either Las Vegas or Reno, collecting baseball/football memorabilia and time on the lake aboard The Alibi.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice “Bea” and Larry; his sister, Deonna Harris; and a daughter, Shana O’Donnell. Glahe (Sarah); a step-daughter, Joeli Martin (Jeff); and 10 grandchildren, Logan, Blake, Madison, Jared, Truxton, Jia, Aiden, Ava, Chloe and Margeaux.
