We can't afford four more years of lies, hatred

I read both former first lady Michelle Obama and Melania Trump’s speeches.

Both extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of Covid 19. President Trump just touted how great he has done. What  struck me was both first ladies said Trump is Trump. He has not changed, matured, or learned in the job. Melania, thought that was great, and Michelle said Trump was simply incompetent.

Four years ago, I asked friends why they were voting for Trump. Number one answer was, “I hate…” Hillary, Obama, liberals, Democrats! This was followed by, “I like the way he talks,” especially how he insults and attacks others. The second answer was, “He’s horrible, but I hate abortion and will do a deal with the devil to get rid of it.” Jesus took a hard pass on deals with the devil.

So, what has 4 years of hate and bile gotten us? Abortion? Still here and may be even more prevalent as Trump has undercut health care. Fires are consuming the entire west coast. Over 190,000 people have died from a pandemic. Our country had the worst response of any other 1st world nation. Massive protests started on the first day of his presidency and are happening in every part of the country, 93% of them totally peaceful. The economy has collapsed, and government corruption is rampant. Trump’s response is to deny then double down on the hate.

Both first ladies agree 4 more years of Trump will be the same as the last 4 years. We cannot afford another 4 years of lies and hatred. It is what it is.
