Not wearing a mask is close-minded and political

First, in response to Joe Red's letter, that masks are not fine enough to filter viruses. If you recall seeing those backlit photos of sneezes illuminating the cloud of mist expelled, those are thousands of droplets of mucus and snot, each speck can harbor tens of thousands of viruses. A mask is meant and able to filter those virus containing drops.

Secondly, in response to Anne Chamberlain's letter; From the Kansas City Star, 8/20/20 "The state’s 15 counties with mandatory mask orders — including Wyandotte and Johnson counties in the Kansas City area — have seen a greater decline in coronavirus cases than the remaining 90 counties that don’t mandate them."  Check the other news. Check the CDC. Check the experiences of other countries.....masks work.  Also from the CDC, influenza causes "...61,000 deaths annually since 2010."  COVID has tripled that in the first 6 months in the USA. And from the U of Maryland...." that carbon dioxide from exhaling gets trapped... and can make you sick. This isn't true. Properly fitted masks offer adequate airflow while still covering your nose and mouth. This makes the accumulation of carbon dioxide impossible."  Again, check your sources. And, a mask is to protect others from you. You don't know if you are infected, nether do I. Not wearing a mask is playing Russian Roulette with everyone else's lives; your friends, your family, your neighbors. Not wearing a mask is selfish, close minded and political.
