County notes four new COVID cases

SANDPOINT — Bonner County gained four new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the county's total to 319 since the pandemic started.

Forty-eight of the county’s cases are considered active.

Boundary County noted no cases Thursday, keeping the number of cases in the county at 56 cases since the start of the pandemic with one death. Panhandle Health District officials said six of those cases are considered active.

In all, PHD reports the five northern counties added 55 new cases on Wednesday, with a total of 3,306 cases with 57 deaths since the start of the pandemic. There are currently 24 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the five northern counties, with a total of 198 people hospitalized during the course of the pandemic.

Kootenai County added 46 new cases on Thursday, with a total of 2,578 cases since the start of the pandemic. PHD officials said 242 of the county's cases are considered active.

Shoshone County added no new cases on Thursday, keeping its total at 213 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. The district said seven of those cases remain active.

Benewah County also added one new case Thursday, with 138 cases since the start of the pandemic, 20 of which are active, PHD said.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported 491 new confirmed or probable infections on Thursday, elevating the statewide total to 39,234 cases resulting in 457 deaths.

The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said the health district reported 10 new case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the most recent date for which there is data, with one case in Pend Oreille County and nine cases in Stevens County.

Pend Oreille County has had 61 confirmed cases, with six hospitalizations, since the start of the pandemic and 1,731 total tests given. Three cases have been reported in the last 14 days.

Stevens County has had 162 confirmed cases, with 31 cases reported in the past 14 days with two deaths since the start of the pandemic. There have been 15 cases that required hospitalization with 4,610 total tests given during that timeframe.

Ferry County has has 29 cases since the start of the pandemic, with no new cases reported in the last 14 days. There has been one case that required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic and a total of 863 tests given during that timeframe.

The Montana Department of Public Health reported 333 new confirmed cases on Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 11,242 confirmed cases, 165 of which resulted in fatalities.

Lincoln County has had 107 cases since the outbreak began, with four of them considered active and 100 people reported as recovered. The county has had three deaths since the start of the pandemic. The state said Sanders County has had 46 cases over the course of the pandemic, with three of them considered active with 42 people reported recovered. The county has had one death connected to COVID-19, Montana public health officials said.
