Reuter, Sanroman win boys best ball at Mullan Invitational

PINEHURST — The Clark Fork golf team opened its season with a unique, Ryder Cup-style event at the Mullan Invitational on Monday.
The seven teams that took part in the match competed in boys, girls and "Jack and Jill" twosomes in best ball and scramble formats at Pinehurst Golf Course.
In boys best ball, juniors Cole Reuter and Carter Sanroman teamed up to take home the title by shooting an 80.
"I think Cole and Carter were pretty confident because they've been playing quite a bit," head coach Brian Arthun said.
Junior Jacob Abbott and freshman Landin Pierson took sixth in the boys scramble competition with a 120.
Arthun also said junior Jaden Pierson teamed up with a golfer from Lakeside and shot a 112 in scramble play.
"The younger kids were a little bit nervous to start out with, but then they kind of calmed down and got in a rhythm, and shot better the second nine," he said.
Clark Fork finished fifth as a team with 11 points. St. Maries piled up 33 points to win the event, taking back the cup from 2019 team champion Genesis Prep.
The Wampus Cats head to The Links Golf Course at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21 for a league match.
