COEUR d'ALENE — The six-game winning streak for the Sandpoint baseball team came to an abrupt end on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs suffered an 8-2 defeat at Lake City in their return from spring break.

SHS was hoping to complete a season sweep of the Timberwolves. Sandpoint took down Lake City 9-8 in its season opener on March 13.

But the Timberwolves had different plans and jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead over the Bulldogs.

Lake City kept SHS scoreless through four innings, but they finally broke through in the fifth. Senior Cameron Garcia hit a double to score Avery Bocksch and Blake Sherrill and make the score 5-2 in favor of Lake City.

The Timberwolves bounced back in the bottom of the inning with three runs and held on the rest of the way for the win.

Across three innings, starting pitcher Evan Williams struck out three while allowing five runs and four hits.

Auggie Lehman pitched two innings in relief and Jack Zimmerman stepped on the bump in the sixth and struck out three batters.

Ethan Butler, Trevor Brackett, Williams and Garcia all recorded hits for SHS.

The Bulldogs (8-2, 4-2 IEL) will look to get back on track when they host Timberlake at 4 p.m. Thursday.
