Pemberton always put NLI members, employees first

| April 20, 2021 1:00 AM

As an NLI employee I would like to respond to a recent opinion by Thomas Leo regarding the upcoming NLI board of directors election. Just because the employees support a sitting board member does not imply there is some sinister plot by our existing board to get a sitting director re-elected.

NLI employees paid for all the signs popping up around Sagle that Thomas mentions. We did not ask for permission from the board of directors or management to do so.

As employees it is extremely important to us who makes the decisions that impact our employment, operations, and members. After all, we are the ones taking phone calls, meeting with members, working through issues and providing consistent electric service 24/7.

Dave Pemberton has always put the members first when making decisions for the cooperative. He has also publicly stated how proud he is of NLI and its employees. On the other hand, his opponent publicly criticizes NLI as if it is broken and needs to be fixed.

I think it is safe to say NLI employees are proud of our cooperative and take pride in the service(s) we all provide to our membership. Why is it surprising we would want a director who is proud of us and the job we do versus a candidate who feels we are broken and need to be fixed? It seems to be more common sense than a sinister plot.
