John Richard Jenkins, 51, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 in Ponderay, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with Fr. Sleeva Raju officiating. John will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery.

John was born on June 24, 1969, in Portland, Oregon, to James and Janet Jenkins. He was born with Rubella Syndrome. He attended the School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding, Idaho and graduated from Centennial High School in Boise.

John moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and worked at TESH Inc. In 1994, he moved to Ponderay and has lived with his best friend Linda Ryan ever since. In Sandpoint, he spent time at Panhandle Special Needs, Inc.

John had the greatest laugh, a great sense of humor and was a good judge of character. He kept the hats of people he loved to be close with them. He enjoyed food and sweets and was a regular at the Hoot Owl Café. He participated in the Special Olympics. He loved boating and was “Captain” of the summer pontoon boat. John was also an expert in boxes and balloons.

John is survived by Linda Ryan of Ponderay; two brothers, Jay (Denise) Jenkins of Everett, Washington, and Lance (Stephanie) Jenkins of San Diego, California; two sisters, Janell (Matthew) Gonyea of Kent, Washington, and Lori Jenkins (Dale Sakai) of Atherton, California; four nephews and one niece, Paige, Parker, Wren, James, and Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and James Jenkins.
