Sandpoint cross country announces end-of-season awards

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint cross country team held its end-of-season awards banquet last month.

The Bulldogs swept the 4A Region 1 titles for the ninth straight year this fall. The girls captured fifth at state, their best finish since 2017, while the boys brought home seventh.

Ara Clark and Ben Ricks were named Most Valuable Runners.

Here is a list of the awards handed out:

Scholastic Awards (given to varsity seniors with highest GPAs): Mackenzie Suhy-Gregoire and Ben Ricks. The boys and girls both received Distinguished Team Scholastic Awards.

Most Valuable Runners (by points and leadership): Ara Clark and Ben Ricks.

Most Improved (first season to now, impact to varsity teams): Caleb Roche and Mackenzie Suhy-Gregoire.

William Johnson Award (for inspiration and motivation): Trey Clark, Gavin Jasper and Megan Oulman.

The Extra Mile Award (for service and support to team): Tiffany Brown, Devin McDaniel, Isaiah Hagstrom and William Dotson.

Coaches’ Awards (for outstanding contributions to team): Audrey Anderson, Grace Rookey, Payton Betz, Terra Bode, Jillian Primgaard, Nate Roche, Slate Fragoso, Kasten Grimm, Daniel Ricks and Keane Haesle.

Captains: Ara Clark, Megan Oulman, Slate Fragoso and Trey Clark.
