12 Spartans place at Blizzard JV Tournament

SANDPOINT — The Priest River wrestling team hit the mat for the first time this season Saturday at the Blizzard JV Tournament.

The Spartans didn't show much rust as 12 of the 13 grapplers that competed placed. Garrett Reynolds and Dillon Haylor led the way by capturing first in their respective weight classes.

Reynolds won all three of his matches by pin to cruise to the tourney title at 120 pounds, while Haylor secured pins in both his bouts in the 145-pound B bracket to claim glory.

Brayden Lamanna (113) and Dylan Lord (138A) both fell in their first-place matches to capture second while Helena White took home third at 145 pounds in the girls division.

Collin Magers (126A), Austin Reeves (152A), Dalton Brown (152B), Hunter Rose (170B), Gabriel Grow (220B), Caleb Grow (285) and Kailee Davis (120 girls) all placed fourth in their weight classes.

Landon Reynolds went 1-2 in his matches at 182 pounds.

Sixteen Sandpoint wrestlers also placed at the tourney hosted by the Bulldogs. Ashlei Hawkins (126B), Robert Newsom (160B) and Greg Belgarde (285) won their respective weight classes.

Andrew Duke (98), Ryken Ames (145B) and Emma Garman (120 girls) placed second; Aiden Rork (106), Gavin Clifton (113), Mitchell McFadden (138B), Bryson Tucker (182) and Gavin Walters (285) took third; and Lincoln Balch (120), Alex Guercio (145A), Matthew Clifton (160A), Carson Bosse (220A) and Rylie Hancock (145 girls) grabbed fourth.

Priest River heads to the George Wild Tournament on Saturday at Kellogg High.
