Vote yes on West Bonner County School District levy

| February 17, 2021 1:00 AM

I feel the same way about the school levy as I do the current state of the pandemic. This is no fault of our own, but that does not mean we can’t do the right thing.

Our students and the generations to come deserve the affordability to follow their dreams, prepare for the future, and seek a path of their own self-sufficiency. Ironically, it has taken the year 2020 to clearly see that as a country we have lost our vision; as a community we can thrive. In order to have productive members of society in the future, we need to send our children to funded schools today.

This last year has burdened many parents, not all are not equipped to be teachers, counselors, friends, mentors, and a parent 100% of the time. Children become well-rounded individuals by learning to solve problems, seeing different perspectives, and socializing with one another. We are very fortunate that our schools have been open most of the time during the past year.

As a community, they are “our” students whom which many of us will depend on to take care of us in the future. Build a better society than what we have. If we each checked our tax assessment, we may realize the few dollars we spend today is an investment worth keeping for the product we receive; successful doctors, lawyers, contractors, and mechanics just to name a few. Every student who is educated now will be more apt to be a self-sufficient member of society in the future.

Join me March 9 in voting “yes” for the WBCSD levy.
