Schweitzer resumes twilight skiing

| January 20, 2021 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Schweitzer Mountain Resort is bringing back twilight skiing by welcoming season pass holders and anyone who has already pre-purchased a ticket through one of the resorts' Own the Night partners.

The resort halted night skiing over the Martin Luther King holiday due to a "overwhelming" lack of compliance with mask requirements in lift lines and lodges at the resort, officials said in announcing the move prior to the holiday weekend.

"I will not continue to tolerate the verbal abuse that has been directed towards our staff as they have attempted to enforce our safety requirements," Schweitzer CEO Tom Chasse said in the Facebook post.

No on-site ticket sales will be available, the resort said on Tuesday. The resort said it plans to limit the quantity of tickets available for twilight skiing and is reminding guests to pre-purchase them in advance online.

Any pre-purchased tickets from the Own the Night partners will be accepted any evening twilight skiing is offered except for Sunday, February 14.

In order to continue its support of its Own the Night partners, any tickets purchased online for future dates will continue to help their fundraising efforts, resort officials said in an online post.

More details will be available when those tickets go on sale the week of January 25, they said in the post.

"We want to want to remind everyone to please respect our policies and wear a mask in all indoor spaces as well as when in the lift line so we can continue with night skiing for the remainder of the season," officials said on its Facebook page.
