Bonner County doesn't want to be sanctuary county

| January 26, 2021 1:00 AM

This is in response to a request that Jalon Peters made recently regarding his single-handed request before a Bonner County Commission meeting, asking that we be declared a sanctuary county.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to destroy Bonner County by declaring us a sanctuary county?

Do we really want to copy San Francisco, San Jose, or Los Angeles or all of cities in this country who have declared themselves as a sanctuary? Why would we want to subject ourselves to the lawlessness and complete disregard for human behavior that be the result of becoming a sanctuary county?

Currently San Jose is looking into ways dismantling their sanctuary status. The lawlessness has taken its toll on their residents. San Jose wants to start working again with the federal government to try and control the problems will illegal immigrants that is currently out of control. Sanctuary cities or counties don’t work. The definition of insanity is someone trying the same things over and over again in an attempt to change the results.

Jolan, I think you should consider moving back to Texas and leaving the citizens of Bonner County alone. If we had wanted to live like the residents of San Francisco we would have moved there. Instead we choose to live in the Idaho Panhandle.
