Jan. 26, 1971 – NEW BUTCHER AT INKS

Inks Thrift Store has employed a new butcher, Don Morton, from Spokane, who is returning here after some 20 years absence. He was born at Dover and attended Lincoln and Farmin schools before moving away. Morton has been employed by Albertsons in Spokane for seven years and worked for three independent firms another three years. He, his wife and two children, Stephanie, 14, and Carson, 12, will move here as soon as they can find a suitable home.

PROBERT-OESTMANN ENGAGEMENT

Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Probert of Spokane announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine M., to Roger K. Oestmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Oestmann, Sandpoint. Miss Probert is a freshman at WSU, Pullman, Washington. Oestmann, who attended the University of Idaho two years, will enter the Navy in March. No wedding plans have been made.

1961 SHS REUNION PLANNED FOR AUGUST

The 1961 class reunion planning committee met Jan. 11 to plan the Aug. 7-8 event. Committee members are Janice (Forgey) Boatwright, Linda (Thurlow) Bloom, Hazel (Linsday) Deem, Janice (Yager) Klinger, Dan Deshon Jr., Lola (Stevens) Deshon, Cherry (Gregory) Glazier, Lola (Garvey) Marley, Roy Moe and Willena (Ahner) Scott.

Jan. 26, 1921 – NEWS FROM KOOTENAI

Kootenai young folks enjoyed a sleigh ride to Matchwood, where they danced till a late hour.

Mr. and Mrs. S. Blair went Sunday to Coeur d’Alene to visit their daughter, Mrs. Joe Goullette. Mr. Blair returned, leaving Mrs. Blair to help her daughter care for her children, who all have the whooping cough.

TO BORROW FUNDS FOR SEWER REPAIRS

The city council Monday used the emergency finance statute to authorize the city to borrow funds to make immediate repairs at the septic tank at the foot of Third avenue and in the First ave. sewer line where a break occurs at the intersection of Lake street.

CITY BREVITIES

Paul Tobin, yard superintendent for the Dover lumber company, left to return to the employ of the Cloquet, Minn. Lumber company. Mr. Tobin was the one-time coach with the University of Minnesota football eleven and last fall coached the local high school team.

LUTHERAN LADIES’ AID ELECTS

The Lutheran Ladies’ Aid society elected officers for 1921: Mrs. Iver Iverson, president; Mrs. E. Rosholt, vice president; Mrs. H.J. Stolee, secretary, Mrs. O.M. Jennestad, treasurer. Business reports showed prosperity with a sizeable gain in membership. Of the funds on hand, $200 was set aside for a church fund.
