CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork boys basketball team put forth a great effort for the second straight game on Tuesday. But once again, it wasn't enough to knock off the Bonners Ferry JV team.

The Wampus Cats lost 50-42 after leading 20-19 at the half. Last Thursday, Clark Fork fell at Bonners Ferry JV 63-50.

The game on Tuesday came down to two things — the third quarter and the free-throw line. The Badgers outscored Clark Fork 17-8 in the third quarter and the Wampus Cats went 3-11 on free throws in the second half.

Head coach Heath Beason said for the most part, his team played mistake-free basketball and he was proud of their fight.

"We played hard," he said. "Our kids deserved this one, but still a few things to clean up. We need to put this behind us and get ready for the next game."

Starting guards Cameron Garcia and Carter Sanroman both got banged up in the game, but still combined for 23 points. Garcia had 15 and Sanroman finished with eight. Chris Wade tallied seven, Nathan Shelton poured in six and Sam Barnett added five.

"We need to play four quarters to win and we need to correct it fast," Beason said. "We're out of time. We have some big games coming up and I believe we will be ready.
