All law-abiding citizens in this great country matter

| January 27, 2021 1:00 AM

Another open letter to fellow Americans:

First and foremost, I fully condemn the actions of those who took part in storming the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as well as, all other acts of domestic terror mentioned in the Daily Bee’s "My Turn" column on Jan. 14.

While this message seems appropriate it fails, miserably, at pointing out additional acts of violence that we have seen just this past summer. Members of antics and Black Lives Matter, as well as, thousands, who just wanted to loot and burn American homes and businesses, spent months destroying major cities across America. What is even worse is the fact that hundreds of Americans lost their livelihoods and many lost their lives. To fuel the fire, many in Congress up to Kamala Harris, the vice president, not only asked for donations to establish bail relief, for those who committed these crimes, but incited these individuals to continue to act, not just peacefully but violently, in order to bring about the change liberals thought needed to happen.

So how does this not even deserve a mention in this guest opinion? The agencies that signed this “open letter” were made up of several Human Rights Task Forces, Gonzaga Provost, and GU Institute for Hate Studies. Do only the human rights of certain individuals and their particular groups matter? By sidestepping a huge group of domestic terrorists that continue to destroy cities, courthouses, and statues i.e. – Portland, Oregon, your letter has no validity. Until you take a stance that all American lives and property matters, not just those you agree with politically, you do not deserve the attention you think you deserve.

I would challenge those agencies to also consider that respect, fairness and dignity should be given to everyone, regardless of color, gender, sexual orientation OR political beliefs. Increasingly people are being told that if the color of their skin happens to be white they are inherently racist. If they are conservative they must be silenced. The danger for those of us who align as conservative is that we are being censored. Just by our thoughts and voting record many conservatives have been banned from all forms of social media, many have lost their jobs just for expressing their viewpoints and now, since the storming of the Capitol by a couple hundred bad individuals, we are all being labeled domestic terrorists if we simply vote a certain way.

This is the real human rights issue. We should all agree that those you mentioned, as well as those I mentioned are the problem but the bigger issue is for your group to not step up and admit that all law-abiding citizens who reside in this great country matter. You should stop protecting only those people you agree with politically. By writing your letter with a great deal of recent domestic terror left out, you have sent a message that the terror reigned on our fellow citizens, over the entire summer, was somehow acceptable based on the message it promoted. I hope you think, hard, about your stance. You are complicit on every human right violation you accuse others of committing by ignoring the violations of those groups, which you align and wish to protect.

In closing, I do know one thing – the liberal government, as well as, big tech, who act to silence and harm half the country is big enough to silence you as soon as you misspeak.
