Why stop with the rainbow?

| July 27, 2021 1:00 AM

Kenny Fearer and Jeff Bohnhof want to paint the crosswalk in front of the Panida Theater with the colors of the rainbow to acknowledge that Sandpoint is a beacon of diversity. How diverse are we if we only recognize one group?

How about we show that "Love Lives Here" by recognizing other groups of people?  How about the crosswalk at First Avenue and Cedar Street adorned with a thin blue line flag, how about the crosswalk at Second and Cedar honoring our first responders? How about recognition of our military personal at Second Avenue and Main Street, we could even give special recognition to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom at Fourth Avenue and Church Street.

If we really want to celebrate diversity and co-exist as the bumper stickers say, let's include as many groups as possible so as not to give the impression that the rainbow colors are displayed just to satisfy one group of people.
