PNGA Men's Amateur match play heating up at The Idaho Club

SANDPOINT — After four days of play, only eight players remain in the 119th Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship at The Idaho Club.

Eighteen holes of stroke play were held on Monday and Tuesday and the field was cut down to 64 players after the two rounds to begin the match play portion of the championship.

Round of 64 matches were held on Wednesday and Round of 32 and Round of 16 matches were contested on Thursday. Here are the eight remaining players: Jose Suryadinata (University of Idaho), Preston Bebich (Washington State University), Blake Wisdom (Bucknell University), Jordan Lee (Western Washington University), Danny Tiscareno (University of Southern California), John Sand (Denver University), Alfred Raja (Oregon State University) and Ben Warian (University of Minnesota).

Suryadinata, the No. 16 seed, took down No. 1 seed Mateo Fuenmayor to advance to the quarterfinals and will face No. 25 Bebich in a battle of the Palouse.

No. 45 Wisdom is set to take on No. 28 Lee in the second quarterfinal match. The third quarterfinal will pin No. 31 Tiscareno against No. 7 Sand, and the final quarterfinal will feature No. 30 Raja and No. 6 Warian.

Quarterfinal matches will start at 7:30 a.m. Friday and semifinal matches will follow in the afternoon.

Spectators are encouraged to come and watch the event at The Idaho Club. The 36-hole championship match will be held on Saturday.
