Telva D. Bolkcom, 84

Telva D. Bolkcom passed peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at her home in Athol, Idaho at the age of 84, she will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Services to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 Olive Ave., Sandpoint. Burial will follow at the Westmond Cemetery. Please join the family for a celebration of her life enjoying food and fellowship back at Lakeview Funeral Home immediately following the graveside ceremony.

Telva was born on November 11, 1936, in Missoula, Mont., to John and Laura Stone. She lived a blessed life as a mother, stepmother, sister, daughter, wife and friend to many.

Telva was born in Missoula as her family traveled to Idaho from Kansas, leaving the Dust Bowl behind they left to seek a new life in beautiful Idaho. Being raised on the family farm in Cocolalla taught her many things that would shape her life. After graduating from Sandpoint High School she fell in love and married Wesley Jackson and together they had five children, Justin, Jeffrey, Susan, Curtis and Linda. She and Wesley divorced in 1978 after which she attended Spokane Community College and graduated with a business degree with the goal of becoming a certified public accountant. In 1982, plans changed when she married Clarence Bolkcom, the father of Randy, Kenneth, Vickie and Rusty. Telva and Clarence were married until his passing in 2001.

She pursued her passion of painting and writing poetry of which she become a very accomplished published poet winning numerous awards for ability to capture the hearts and attention of her readers. Living in a log cabin in the woods and her childhood gave her incredible inspiration to paint a picture of life that was both unique and honest. She knew the importance of hard work, being at peace with nature and most of all her love for her Lord and Savior. Honesty and determination were very important to her. Being strong-willed and never willing to give up helped her through many tough situations in life, she relied on her relationship with the Lord and this eternal focus was never far from her mind.

Telva is survived by her children, Justin (Elizabeth), Susan (Jay), Curtis and Linda (Dennis) as well as her eldest sister Joy Eldred, nine9 beautiful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Those who have passed before her include her son, Jeffrey; both her parents; both her husbands, Wesley Jackson and Clarence Bolkcom; as well as all of her siblings except Joy.
