Women Honoring Women recently awarded two scholarships, one to Ellen Clark and another to Mikayla Schoening.

Ellen Clark recently graduated from Sandpoint High School, where she was active in lacrosse, choir, National Honor Society,  Academic Decathlon, and Interact Club. She also was on the honor roll for four years.  In her junior year she was involved with the foreign exchange program and lived in Croatia for eight months where she learned a new language and made lots of new friends.

In addition to her school activities she was active with the Teen Center and became a student advocate and found opportunities to speak to the Rotary Club and at community leadership meetings to spread the mission.

Clark has been accepted at Fordham University in New York City and plans on majoring in international relations and diplomacy. Her goal is to become a lawyer working for the government in the field of immigration and international relations.

Mikayla Schoening is a Sandpoint High School 2020 graduate continuing her education at Idaho State University.  She will be a sophomore this fall pursuing a career in dental hygiene. While in high school she participated on the swim team, and performed in plays and musicals. Schoening worked through high school as a swim coach, lifeguard and barista all the while maintaining good grades.

As Schoening works her way through college to reach her goals, she is working to earn funds in order to come out of college debt-free. One of her important realizations is how blessed she is to have the family she has and appreciates all the support they offer her in reaching her goals, she said.
